Dr Greenwade is both professional and relatable, providing one of the best medical experiences I've had. The combined chiropractic + rehab/therapy approach seems very practical and was able to provide me with nearly immediate relief. Ben is clearly well-versed in the science of exercise and its easy to see he has firsthand experience with what he's teaching. Highly recommend

I worked with Maggie to help improve some deficiencies seen in my bloodwork, by changing my eating habits. I loved working with Maggie. She took the time to understand my existing behaviors and habits and developed a plan to make incremental improvements. We made one small adjustment at a time so I was not having to unsustainably change all my habits at once. She understood the things that were important to me (a sweet snack after dinner :)) and made suggestions as to how I could still keep that but in a healthier way. She was always super positive and encouraging.

I have been seeing Dr. Greenwade for years now and he has always been a huge help as I have dealt with various injuries, aches, and pains. He was able to provide care after both a fractured knee and a nasty sprained ankle and helped me bounce back much quicker than I would've been able to on my own! He always has great tips and pointers for exercises/stretches that will help strengthen muscles and accelerate recovery. Would highly recommend his treatment to anyone!

Dr. Anne Johnson is amazing! She goes the extra mile every single time, not just with her expert technique but with the way she genuinely cares. She found problem areas that other practitioners had completely missed and has been incredibly effective with her adjustments and manipulations. What sets her apart is her attention to detail and patience—she always listens carefully, keeps track of all my (many!) symptoms, and never rushes through anything. On top of that, she’s cheerful, positive, and brings such great energy to each visit. I love talking to her! I’m dealing with a complex issue, and Dr. Anne has offered thoughtful insights and advice that go well beyond her job. She's been an essential part of my healing journey and I can't recommend her enough!

If you have an injury or any kind of neck or back pain, do not go anywhere else beside Eastside Ideal Health! They did not only help fix my C5 & C6 herniated disc, but gave me key information and techniques on how to prevent future flair ups. The mobility physical therapy that targets the injury at hand made my recovery smooth and my pain relief instantaneous. They are experienced, educated and explain exactly what's going on in a way where you can easily understand it. I will not be going anywhere else, and I will not be recommending anyone but this team of experts! Give them a try and you will not be disappointed.

Non-Surgical Treatment Options

If you're experiencing numbness, tingling, or weakness in your hand or wrist, you may be dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). At Eastside Ideal Health in Redmond, we provide non-invasive, chiropractic-centered care to relieve symptoms and restore function—without relying on medication or surgery.

What Is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve is compressed as it passes through the wrist. This narrow passageway, called the carpal tunnel, can become irritated by repetitive movements, poor ergonomics, inflammation, or structural misalignments.

Common Symptoms of CTS

  • Numbness or tingling in the thumb, index, or middle fingers
  • Wrist or hand pain, especially at night
  • Weak grip strength or hand fatigue
  • Symptoms that worsen with typing, driving, or repetitive hand use

How We Evaluate Carpal Tunnel at Eastside Ideal Health

We begin with a detailed consultation and physical exam that may include:

  • Phalen’s Test: Wrist flexion test to reproduce symptoms
  • Tinel’s Sign: Light tapping over the nerve to detect irritation
  • Neurological and orthopedic testing for nerve involvement
  • Postural and spinal assessment to identify contributing factors

Chiropractic Treatment for Carpal Tunnel

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, we address the underlying biomechanical issues contributing to nerve compression. Your treatment plan may include:

  • Wrist and hand adjustments to improve joint alignment and nerve space
  • Spinal adjustments (especially cervical and upper thoracic) to improve nerve flow
  • Soft tissue therapy for forearm and wrist muscles
  • Neurodynamic exercises (nerve glides) to improve mobility of the median nerve
  • Ergonomic coaching to reduce stress on the wrist during daily activities
  • Splinting or bracing recommendations for nighttime relief

Backed by Research

“Conservative management of CTS, including manual therapy and nerve mobilization, has shown significant improvement in symptoms and function.”

When to Consider Referral or Surgery

Most mild-to-moderate cases respond well to conservative treatment. However, you may need referral for further testing or surgical evaluation if you experience:

  • Progressive muscle wasting in the hand
  • Persistent symptoms after 6–8 weeks of care
  • Severe or worsening nerve conduction results

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a chiropractor help carpal tunnel without surgery?
Yes. Many cases respond to conservative chiropractic care, including adjustments, nerve glides, and soft tissue work.
How long does treatment take?
While results vary, most patients report symptom relief within 4–6 weeks of consistent care.
Is it okay to keep working on a computer?
Yes, but we’ll guide you in adjusting your ergonomics and posture to reduce aggravation of symptoms.
